The Austin Materials Marketplace is an online platform allowing businesses and organizations to connect and find reuse and recycling solutions for waste and by-product materials.

 

The program aims to create a closed-loop, collaborative network of businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs where one organization’s hard-to-recycle waste and by-products becomes another organization’s raw material. in addition to diverting waste from landfills, these recovery activities generate significant cost savings, energy savings, and create new jobs and business opportunities.

How it Works and How to Join

The Materials Marketplace enables participating organizations and project staff to easily post materials available or desired, identify reuse opportunities, and exchange underutilized materials. Hundreds of companies - large and small - academic institutions, non-profits and entrepreneurs are using the Materials Marketplace around the world.

Confidentiality Provision *
The US BCSD shall, and shall take reasonable steps to cause its contractors to, abide by the following confidentiality provision: The US BCSD shall maintain the confidentiality of all confidential information provided by Participant and identified in writing as confidential (“Participant Confidential Information”) and will not use or disclose such Participant Confidential Information to others without the prior written consent of Participant except for the purposes contemplated herein or when such use or disclosure is required by order of a court or governmental agency. Prior to disclosing Participant Confidential Information to the AMM Program Team and other participants in the AMM Program, such other participants shall be bound by the same or substantially similar confidentiality provision. Participant shall maintain the confidentiality of all information identified in writing as confidential and provided to Participant by the US BCSD (“Project Confidential Information”) and will not use or disclose such Project Confidential Information to others without the prior written consent of the US BCSD, except for the purposes contemplated herein or when such use or disclosure is required by order of a court or governmental agency. Information that is generally known to the public other than as a result of a breach of this section, or that has been disclosed to the US BCSD or Participant, as the case may be, on a non-confidential basis by third parties who have a right to do so shall not be deemed Participant Confidential Information or Project Confidential Information. The terms of this section shall survive and remain in effect following any termination of this Agreement for a period of five (5) years. The US BCSD shall be allowed to publish or grant rights to publish information regarding the AMM Program, provided that no Participant Confidential Information shall be disclosed, without the prior written consent of the Participant.

The Austin Materials Marketplace was fully-funded by Austin Resource Recovery for the first two contract years, August 2014 to August 2016, with the intention to gradually transition to a network-supported, self-funding  model starting in Fall 2017.
